Inspectors found several significant food safety violations during the inspection. The restaurant did not have a posted City of Chicago food sanitation certificate or an employee health policy on site, and inspectors issued citations. Several refrigerated foods, including sour cream, eggs, buttermilk, heavy cream, and cheese, were held at unsafe temperatures between 60°F and 65°F instead of 41°F or below. About 100 pounds of food, valued at approximately $2,000, was discarded. The walk-in cooler was also measured at 63°F, which is too warm for safe cold storage.Inspectors also found pest activity, including more than 300 live small flies throughout the establishment and more than 50 rat droppings in basement areas. Additional significant violations included no chemical test kit for dishwashing sanitizer and an outside dumpster area with excessive trash on the ground; citations were issued for these items. Other issues included heavy grease spills inside fryers, holes in a basement wall, damaged or missing floor tiles, debris on floors in food and bar areas, and missing food handler and allergen training certificates.
