The recalled Wegmans Penne Rigate Mozzarella Salad was packaged in a plastic container where the top lid label indicates Penne Rigate Mozzarella Salad, Net Wt 30 OZ (1 LB 14 OZ) 850 g., and the container side label indicates Macaroni Salad, Net Wt 40 OZ (2 LB 8 OZ) 1.13 kg. The recalled product has a code on the lid that states “3515-2” and “USE BY 06/1/23.”

The recalled Wegmans Penne Rigate Mozzarella Salad is packaged in a container with an ingredient statement intended for Macaroni Salad. The ingredient statement for Macaroni Salad does not declare milk, an allergen present in the Penne Rigate Mozzarella Salad. The issue was discovered by store personnel.

Consumers who purchased this product may return it to the store for a full refund.

These products were produced and distributed into commerce on various dates from 2018 through April 2023, and bear establishment number "EST. 21174" or "EST. P-21174" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered when the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets notified FSIS that it had observed the meat salami product stored at non-refrigerated temperatures at a retail store in Brooklyn, New York. The product is not shelf stable but was not labeled with a handling statement indicating that it should be kept refrigerated. FSIS' investigation identified additional varieties of halal meat and poultry sausage products with the brand name "Sheikh" produced by Alef Sausage Inc. in commerce that did not bear a handling statement.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be on retailers' shelves or in consumers' pantries. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

While the product was distributed to schools, it was through a commercial sale and was not part of the food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

The recalled products are:
- 13.7-lb. boxes containing 30 plastic trays of 7.3-oz. meals containing “Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli & Penne Pasta” with a best if used by date of 1/25/24, product code number 903419 and lot number W01252308897.
- 13.7-lb. boxes containing 30 plastic trays of 7.3-oz. meals containing “Chicken Strips over WW Penne Pasta with Alfredo Sauce & Broccoli” with a best if used by of date 1/31/24, product code number 403127 and lot number W01312307698.

These products were produced on January 25, 2023, and January 31, 2023 and bear establishment number “P-32073” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in institutional freezers. Institutions are urged not to serve these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
