The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product has been sold in British Columbia.

- Affected products:
Brand: None, Product: Enoki Mushroom, Size; 150 g, UPC: 6 950319 388884, Codes: All units sold up to and including August 31, 2022.

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider; check to see if you have recalled products; and do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.

The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 880 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken entree products by Connoisseur’s Kitchen, a Surrey, British Columbia establishment because they may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products are:
- 2-lb. box packages containing “SPICE MANTRA CHICKEN KORMA” with lot code 220803-406US.
- 2-lb. box packages containing “SPICE MANTRA BUTTER CHICKEN” with lot code 220803-400US.

These products bear establishment number “780” inside the Canadian mark of inspection and were produced on Aug. 3, 2022 and imported to the U.S. on Aug. 8, 2022.

The problem was discovered when the Canadian Food Inspection Agency notified FSIS that the products are associated with a sample that tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

The recalled product was sold and distributed by St. James via distributors between February and June 2022 to stores located in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Washington State, Virginia, and Wisconsin as well as Safeway Washington State stores. As of September 2, 2022 no illnesses have been reported.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled product is St. James Scotch Reserve Scottish Smoked Salmon (Product of Scotland), 4oz packages, bearing the lot# 123172 and UPC code 060022710356. The recall is specifically this lot ONLY, NO other products, brands or lots are associated with this recall. If consumers have products matching the above description and lot# in their possession, they should dispose of them immediately or return them to the store for a full refund.

The recall was the result of a routine sampling by the Washington State Department of Agriculture which revealed that the finished product contained the bacteria. This voluntary recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
