Sapoviruses cause a sporadic gastroenteritis, similar to norovirus, in populations ranging from children to the elderly. The infections are more frequent in children under age 5 than in adults. The most common symptoms of sapovirus are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain. Other symptoms include fever, headache, and body ache.
Most people infected with sapovirus begin to develop symptoms 12 to 48 hours after infection. Symptoms usually last one to four days.
In case you experienced sapovirus symptoms, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

On 10/29/22 our party of 3 had dinner at this location. We shared a dozen oysters. The only item we shared were the oysters. On 10/30/22 all 3 of us experienced SEVERE diarrhea and vomiting. I personally lost the entire night's sleep, getting out of bed 6... times to vomit and many more times for the diarrhea. I vomited so severely, after emptying my stomach repeatedly, there would be more partly digested matter back in my stomach to vomit again. I had to lose a day of work on 10/31/22. On 11/1/22 I am feeling better with lingering effects such as fatigue, upset stomach, a very sore rib cage and a burned throat from the vomiting. 1 person took leftovers home for her son and it did not cause any problems. The only food item that was shared was the oysters. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fatigue, Stomach Pain, Soreness
