Arrived May 23 2019 become extremely ill on the 26th. Diarrhea stomach pain, back pain, headache, flu like symptoms. Only ate their food And did not drink the water. Had 4 drinks the whole trip day before getting sick. Lasted almost a month. Never will be returning to the DR.

My neice and nephew just went two weeks ago...And after they ate at a resturant they had diarhea and stomach cramps..They are children ages 9 and 11 yrs old...Thier mother became Ill as well.. They stayed in ...29 of us booked a trip for punta cana on July 18 2019...Were definitely not going...,

Never been so ill before and still not right after being back home 2 weeks. Beautiful beaches but i wont ever be visiting the Dominican ever again

Our trip was July, 2018. I was so incredibly ill, I spent the last 2 1/2 days of our trip in the room. I couldn't even eat bread or drink a sip of water. Got home, and went straight to the ER from the airport. They said
it was food poisoning, and gave me some meds and sent me home. A few days later, I was having very intense abdominal attacks. Went back to the hospital. The admitted me and did abdominal surgery to cut the parasite out of my small intestine.Then they noticed a lot of fluid in my chest cavity. Turned out, that my lungs were leaking and I was building up fluid in my chest cavity. Then I read how people were dying from respiratory failure from this. All totaled, I underwent a total of 5 surgeries and spent 52 days in the hospital.2 abdominal surgeries, and 3 surgeries on my lungs.

Sunday, April 7, 2024 — lunch time, my son and I ate Hebrew National hot dogs. He mentioned he didn’t feel good as soon as he was done eating. He said his stomach hurt, and laid on the floor. After 10 - 15 minutes he started barfing.
He is 4 years old, He barfed 3 times already. Me (Mom) started feeling sick 20-30 minutes later. I have diarrhea and nausea. It is important to note, my daughter (6), did not eat any hot dogs and has been the only one not sick. I suspect we were food poisoned.

Ate the whopper around 12:30. The texture was awfully dry, but otherwise seemed normal. Began to feel generally unwell and stomach pain around 14:30. By 15:30 I was nauseous and light headed. 16:30, began the severe vomiting and diarrhea, which has continued (currently ongoing). Note: I did
not eat breakfast or anything else prior to the whopper. I drank bottled water at the location, drank the same filtered water as my fiancé at home this morning, and only ate a few fries (which my fiancé also ate, and he’s currently ok). No food since. I’m a molecular biologist with a focus on infectious diseases, and I know what to look for regarding food poisoning cases.
Update 30/03: I actually suspect it's a toxin-producing bacterium, such as *S. aureus*, especially considering the rapid onset of symptoms. We also don't have a high number of norovirus cases in our area, so it's not something that I would consider to be suspicious when weighing other factors like norovirus' incubation period, symptoms like fever and myalgia, and rapid spread. I'm also not in close contact with many other people or shared surfaces, further reducing the index of suspicion. On the other hand, *Staph aureus* is ubiquitously found and the enterotoxins produced are highly heat stable, making it more likely to be the causative agent if the meat was older, improperly handled (especially regarding hygiene practices) or stored, or not cooked to temperature. The more aggressive symptoms are beginning to subside, though I'm definitely not the happiest-of-campers at this time. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Lightheaded

The affected batch has a use-by date of 07/04/2024 and is identified by the Allergy Alert Notification 2024.A11. The product was mispacked with a southern fried chicken mix, leading to the undeclared presence of milk, egg, and mustard.
