UPDATE - September 1st, 2020
CDC reports that a total of 1,012 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Newport have been reported from 47 states to date.

August 18th, 2020
According to the CDC, as of August 18, 2020, a total of 869 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Newport have been reported from 47 states.

August 6th, 2020
Since the last case update, an additional 244 ill people have been reported in this outbreak, including 15 from 10 new states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, West Virginia. The total now is 640 people infected from 43 states. 85 people have required hospitalization and no deaths haven reported to date.

August 3rd, 2020
The CDC announced that the traceback information collected from the illness clusters identified Thomson International, Inc., of Bakersfield, Calif., as a likely source of red onions. Due to the way onions are grown and harvested, other onion types, such as white, yellow, or sweet yellow, may also be contaminated. Additional traceback is ongoing to determine if other onions are linked to the outbreak.

July 31th, 2020
Since the last update, the number of sick persons an additional 184 ill people have been reported in this outbreak, including 37 from 11 new states: Alaska, Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas. A total of 396 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Newport have been reported from 34 states and 59 have required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported.

July 24th, 2020
According to the last update by the CDC, an additional 87 ill people have been reported in this outbreak, including 38 from 8 new states (AZ, FL, ID, ME, ND, NE, SD, and VA) raising the total count to 212 people reported sick from 23 states. 31 people have required hospitalization and no deaths have been reported to date.

July 21st, 2020
The CDC announced that they are currently investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Newport infections where 125 people have been reported sick from 15 states (CA, IL, IA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, OH, OR, TN, UT, WA, WI, WY). 24 people of the total have required hospitalization but no deaths have been reported to date.

Early investigations show that the people reported sick in this outbreak are more likely to share a common source of infection but no specific food item, grocery store, or restaurant chain has been identified as the source of infections.

Most people infected with Salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps 6 hours to 6 days after being exposed to the bacteria and the illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and many recovers without treatment.

The recalled products include "Honey and Garlic Chicken Wings" (containing soy), "Korean Style Marinade Beef Strips" and "Korean Style Marinade Chicken Strips" (containing sulphites), and "Meatloaf" (potentially containing soy, peanuts, and tree nuts). These items were sold in unitary format, and all batches lacking allergen information are subject to recall. The products were vacuum-packed in transparent plastic pouches and sold frozen.

The sandwich was awesome but I did get sick. I ended up with a major headache the bridge of my nose was hurting my stomach was hurting I had a nosebleed,,, I'm not for sure what meat did it but I will not eat there again.
