Honey Nut Cheerios, Gainesville, FL, USA

Honey Nut Cheerios, Gainesville, FL, USA

Gainesville, Florida, United States

I bought a box of Honey Nut Cheerios at some point last week, and on Saturday afternoon I began feeling sick. I had diarrhea and thought maybe it was stress related. Once my stomach had started to feel more settled, I ate more cheerios, not yet connecting the dots.

I went to bed feeling fine and woke up on Sunday with the same digestive issues. I slept until the afternoon and thought maybe it was food poisoning from some Italian sausage I’d bought at the grocery store, as that was common between Friday and Saturday (e.g. eat it Friday, get sick Saturday, eat it Saturday get sick Sunday).

Well, I didn’t eat any cheerios on Sunday, but ate some on Monday once I had an appetite again, and lo’ and behold, Tuesday brings with it digestive issues. At this point, the only food common to all the days I’d gotten sick was the Cheerios, so I googled it, and saw the NYPost article and everything here.

On Tuesday night I looked at the bottom of the box to see when the Cheerios had been manufactured and it was indeed a box from back in April. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea
