I ate this lucky charms cereal a week ago and I got very sick with stomach cramps, nausea and diarrhea. I thought I had the flu. But then I ate the same cereal again tonight and now I have the same symptoms. I will never buy General Mills cereal again. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Cramps
Seattle & King County Public Health announced that they are investigating an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 (also known as STEC) in the County. Between October 4 – 16, 2022, 3 people from 3 separate households reported developing one or more symptoms consistent with STEC. Cases had... illness onset dates from September 21 – October 12, 2022. To date, no source has been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
2 of the 3 ill people report eating dishes that were prepared with raw or undercooked beef but Public Health cannot rule out other possible sources at this time. Confirmed cases have been linked through genetic fingerprinting results (whole genome sequencing) which indicate that they have the same genetic strain, meaning they likely have a common source of infection.
Public Health is working with the (USDA and Washington State Department of Health to complete further testing, to identify related cases in other counties, and to begin traceback of products in common. Traceback is used to identify points of contamination in the food supply chain.

The New York’s Department of Agriculture and Markets warned consumers not to consume unpasteurized raw milk from the farm of Eric and Jessica Nickol located at 995 County Highway 35, Maryland, NY 12116 in Otsego County due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. To date, no illnesses have... been reported to the Department associated with this product.
On November 9, 2022, the producer was notified of a preliminary positive test result. Further laboratory testing, completed on November 14, 2022, confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the raw milk sample. The producer is now prohibited from selling raw milk until subsequent sampling indicates that the product is free of harmful bacteria.
The Department recommends that any consumers who purchased raw milk from the farm of Eric and Jessica Nickol immediately dispose of it.
Raw milk does not provide the protection of pasteurization. Pasteurization is a process that heats milk to a specific temperature for a set period of time. Pasteurization kills the bacteria responsible for numerous illnesses and diseases such as listeriosis, salmonellosis, campylobacteriosis, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, diphtheria, and brucellosis. Pasteurization of milk is recognized internationally as an effective means of preventing outbreaks of foodborne illnesses, including listeriosis.

The FDA is advising consumers not to eat, and restaurants and food retailers not to sell, and to dispose of Dai One Food Co. frozen half shell oysters with a harvest date of 2/6/2022 from Designated Area No. II due to possible sapovirus contamination. These products were... shipped from the ROK and distributed in the following states: AL, CA, FL, GA, MD, NY, NJ, NV, NC, PA, SC, TN and VA.
The Korean firm has recalled frozen half shell oysters, frozen oyster IQF, and frozen oyster block harvested from the same harvest area on 2/6/2022.
The Southern Nevada Health District notified the FDA of two clusters of illnesses from individuals that consumed raw oysters at a restaurant in Las Vegas on 10/28/2022 and 11/5/2022. To date, the Southern Nevada Health District reports 1 confirmed and 9 potential sapovirus illnesses.
The FDA is awaiting information on further interstate distribution of the oysters and will continue to monitor the investigation and provide assistance to state authorities as needed.
Sapoviruses cause a sporadic gastroenteritis, similar to norovirus, in populations ranging from children to the elderly. The infections are more frequent in children under age 5 than in adults. The most common symptoms of sapovirus are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain. Other symptoms include fever, headache, and body ache.
Most people infected with sapovirus begin to develop symptoms 12 to 48 hours after infection. Symptoms usually last one to four days.
