The FDA is currently investigating an outbreak of Cyclosporiasis. As of July 27, 2022, a total of 51 people infected with Cyclospora have been reported. No specific product has been linked to this investigation yet. This investigation is ongoing.

According to FDA, Cyclospora is generally transmitted when infected feces contaminate food or water. It’s unlikely to be transmitted directly from person to person because the Cyclospora parasite needs time (days to weeks) after being passed in a bowel movement to become infectious for another person.

Some FDA recommendations to prevent Cyclosporiasis:
- Wash the inside walls and shelves of the refrigerator, cutting boards and countertops; then sanitize them with a solution of one tablespoon of chlorine bleach to one gallon of hot water; dry with a clean cloth or paper towel that has not been previously used.
- Wash hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food.
- Wipe up spills in the refrigerator immediately and clean the refrigerator regularly.
- Always wash hands with hot, soapy water following the cleaning and sanitization process.
- Persons who think they might have become ill from eating potentially contaminated foods should consult their health care provider.

In case you are experiencing Cyclospora symptoms such as watery diarrhea (most common), cramping, bloating, increased gas, nausea, fatigue, and possibly vomiting and low-grade fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

symptoms of anything. Every day we get a 6$ premade rotisserie chicken from hannaford. To go with that I eat original humus, beef broth, and occasionally a can of refried beans. Yesterday or today one of those chickens was contaminated. I have not consumed any beef broth, hummus, or beans in 72 hours. Both yesterday and today the only thing I ate was the Hannaford rotisserie chicken and water. So either yesterday or today the chicken was contaminated. I have been on the toilet since 2pm and it’s now 11:37pm. I have not stopped violently shitting yet. Vomiting, nausea, severe stomach pain, diarrhea, and headache is my current symptoms and they have not eased up at all. Considering I have been on the same diet for five weeks, and in the last two days only ate one food item, there’s no doubt it was the rotisserie chicken. I noticed an off smell on the chicken we got yesterday but thought it was just that weird re-heated smell you get from the bag. Didn’t think anything of it because for weeks it’s been perfect and no issues.
