Seattle & King County Public Health announced that they are investigating an outbreak of norovirus-like illnesses with vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, and chills linked to IHOP #1755 located at 10002 Aurora Ave N #2-24, Seattle, WA 98101.
Since April 29, 2022, 5 people from 1 meal party reported becoming ill after eating food from this place on April 28, 2022. They have not identified any ill employees. No hospitalizations or death are reported at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
The restaurant closed on May 4, 2022, to complete a thorough cleaning and disinfection, and was reopened on May 5th, 2022 after Environmental Health Investigators confirmed proper cleaning and disinfection was complete.
Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.
In case you are experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, and chills symptoms after eating in this location, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
