ER Visit: Chipotle Bowl - Chipotle Mexican Grill, Sunrise Florida

9 years ago reported by user-mvjzx113

Chipotle Mexican Grill, 129 NW 136th Ave, Sunrise, FL, United States

121 Northwest 136th Avenue, Sunrise, 33325 Florida, United States

To sum it up, I ate Chipotle and got severely sick with cramps, gas, bloody diareah, fever, chills, and an intestinal infection that put me in the Emergency Room. I lost 4 weeks of my life along with 10 pounds and I'm now stuck with $2,000 medical bill.
I ate at Chipotle in Sunrise, FL on May 17, 2016 for lunch. I ate a bowl with steak, white rice, black beans, hot salsa, mild salsa, sour cream, corn, and lettuce. That night my stomach felt upset with cramps. The next day my stomach was bloated, cramping, and I started progressively feeling sick. By night, I had severe cramps and pain to the point I could not move. The diareah started along with a high fever and chills. The third day on May 19, I had severe diareah that was accompanied with blood in my stool along with lower left side intestinal pain and soreness. The fourth day May 20, I had less blood in diareah and the fever was going away, but my insides felt like a knife was dragged through them. I continued to rest and drink fluids hoping to get better. The following 6 days May 22 to 26. I was drinking plenty of fluids and ate soup and bread. I continued to feel soreness and tenderness in my lower left side along with cramps that would not go away. On May 27, the cramping continued and I felt very abnormal. I ended up in the Emergency Room that night. They took blood work and a CAT scan. I had an infection in my intestines and colon that they said was caused by something I ate. I was put on an antibiotic that seemed to have no affect. I was prescribed a GI doctor on May 31st who diagnosed me to having a foodborn bacteria and put me on a stronger antibiotic for the next week. By June 5, I finally started to regain an appetite and the soreness started to feel less and less. By June 10, I started to regain my strength and tried to feel normal again. This took 4 weeks of my life away and I feel fear with every meal I eat now. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Gas, Cramps, Bloating, Bloody Stool, Chills, Soreness
