Ground bison and bison burgers produced by Northfork Bison Distributions, Inc. have been linked to a multistate E.Coli outbreak in seven states, where 21 people have been reported sick and eight of them have been hospitalized, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) notice. No deaths have been reported. The company issued a recall of these products on July 16th.

CDC advises consumers not to eat the recalled products and also advises to restaurants and retailers not to sell or serve these. The recalled Bison Burgers & Bison Ground were distributed across Eastern & Central US., to institutions and retail outlets.
According to the FDA, the recalled products distributed to institutions have a production date of February 22, 2019 – April 30, 2019. For retail outlets, the recalled products, Bison Burgers, have an expiration date up to October 8th, 2020, and can be clearly identified by their blue boxes like the one in the picture above.
