Seaweed Salad Food Poisoning

Seaweed salad, like other fresh produce, could be the source of food poisoning. In 2020, over 3,000 students in Japan fell ill after consuming seaweed salad that was contaminated with E.coli. Symptoms of an E.coli infection start 2-7 days after the consumption, and are characterized by diarrhea and abdominal cramps.

I ate 2 servings of seaweed salad among other things at the buffet. My husband didn’t have any seaweed salad and he was fine. I felt nauseous a couple up ours after and through the night. I ate the seaweed salad last night and some sushi rolls (dynamite, Tokyo roll). My girlfriend ate the sushi rolls, too and is not having any issues. I woke up this morning with horrible stomach pain and nausea and threw up. Because my girlfriend ate the sushi, I’m assuming it was the seaweed salad.  | Symptoms: Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain

Monday, May 8th 2022 at 1pm, ate a poke bowl with scallops, shrimp, ahi tuna, avocado, white rice, spicy mayo, poke sauce, fried onions, sesame seeds, seaweed salad.
