Duration: 15 minutes with extreme subconjunctival hemorrhaging in my eye afterwards that has not gone away.

I took a a few bites from the sandwich and all of sudden tasted something that seemed like really spoiled food or just not something that should ever be eaten. I had barely begun eating and started throwing up chunks of the sandwich that then got stuck in my throat. The choking was extremely severe and this was the first time I have ever vomited without any nausea or onset of feeling sick/warning. The choking caused an extremely bad subconjunctival hemorrhaging in my eye. I kept the remaining pieces of the sandwich stored away in my freezer in an abundance of caution. the US Embassy said she called the hotel mgr and he said he hasn’t had reports of illness, but she confirmed one US resident is hospitalized from that resort.
She also called the Canadian Embassy, but they don’t have reports of illness from Canadians. (??) I learned from Canadians while at the resort that the Canadian travel agent had 3 pages of names of people who were sickened.

Some countries use contaminated water to irrigate fruits and veggies, wash them well or in the future opt to buy tomatoes grown hydroponically in the USA. Hope you get better soon
