Murray Int’l Trading of Brooklyn, NY is recalling Angelicae Sinensis because it may contain elevated levels of lead and cadmium. The Angelicae Sinensis is used to make a soup.

Lead and cadmium are toxic substances present in our environment in small amounts and everyone is exposed to some of these heavy metals from daily actions such as inhaling dust, eating food, or drinking water. In general, the small exposure to lead within the U.S. population does not pose a significant public health concern.

However, exposure to larger amounts of lead and cadmium can cause poisoning. While these heavy metals can affect nearly every bodily system, its effects depend upon the amount and duration of lead exposure and age. Symptoms can include abdominal pain, vomiting, lethargy, irritability, weakness, behavior or mood changes, delirium, seizures, and coma. However, infants, young children and the developing fetus can be affected by chronic exposure to amounts of heavy metals that may not result in obvious symptoms of lead poisoning. A child with heavy metal poisoning may not look or act sick. Heavy metal poisoning in children can cause: learning disabilities, developmental delays, and lower IQ scores.

Angelicae Sinensis was distributed in the following states. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachutes, Connecticut, Washington DC, Virginia, Delaware, Rhode Island, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and Texas through retail stores. The Herbal Doctor Brand Angelicae Sinensis is packed in a green plastic bag weighing 16oz (454g). It has a series of barcode numbers.

The Herbal Doctor Brand Angelicae Sinensis is also packed in a clear plastic box weighing 12oz (340g). It has a barcode number 767533-20097.

The Angelicae Sinensis 16oz (454g) packaged bag barcodes are located on the back of the plastic bag on the bottom right corner. The Angelicae Sinensis 12oz (340g) packaged box barcode is located on the back of the box. Please see enclosed picture for location of where the barcode will be.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after FDA routine sampling revealed elevated levels of lead and cadmium in the product. Subsequent investigation is underway.

Consumers who have purchased Herbal Doctor Brand Angelicae Sinensis are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

the next day. Feeling really bloated and full to the point of uncomfortable. I started to take lactaid for the milk digestion. Thinking it’s the milk. The day before yesterday I got sick to my stomach and no food or liquid stayed down. Diarrhea and vomiting dehydration lead to leg cramps and fatigue. So I fasted for over 24 hours. Today I had one all meat meal. Plain burger patty and bratwurst. A few hours later I had a bowl of morning summit almond cereal and shortly after that I started feeling gassy and bloated again. Like food didn’t make it down to my belly and it’s stuck where my esophagus and stomach meet. Painful and feeling as if it’s making my tummy bloat more as the night goes on. I’m tossing and turning and burping and farting and diarrhea came back. WTH. I’m not blaming the yesterdays stomach sickness on the morning summit cereal but I am concerned that it’s having a negative effect on my digestion and causing the cramping bloating and gas in my stomach. I was concerned I had a really big problem but after reading other folks concerns after eating this cereal I’m convinced it’s the cereal as it’s the only new thing that I’ve added to my diet lately. I will report back after tomorrow and I fast again to release this pressure and hopefully gain my normal digestion back. I’d like to note: I’m 42yo 5’5” tall with 15% body fat. I weight 160lbs. Exercise regularly and I have no known allergies. My wife on the other hand ate some with me and she seems to be doing fine. Purchased at Costco, and this box I brand new.. The sandwiches come in a 4-ounce, clear plastic or gold package marked with an expiration date of 08/31/2024 stamped on the back. The Strawberry and Birthday Cake gelato comes in a 5-Liter gray container and the Horchata gelato comes in a 4.75-Liter gray pan marked with an expiration date of 08/31/2024.

The recall was initiated after Belgian Yummies and the Florida Department of Agriculture discovered during an inspection that the product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of wheat, soy, egg, coconut and/or peanuts and FD&C Yellow #5. The problem was caused by outdated labels being used during the packaging process. Labels were immediately corrected, and ingredient lists were provided to all wholesale customers who received the affected products.

People who have allergies to wheat, soy, egg, coconut, and/or peanuts or have a sensitivity to FD&C Yellow #5 run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

In case you experience harm from allergens or undeclared ingredients, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve issues and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
