83 J.E. Irausquin Boulevard, Noord, Aruba
We checked into on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. We had not eaten anything that morning. We had coffee and water. After we checked in, we unpacked and went to the only open restaurant searching for some much needed food. We both had fish. I began to feel a little off later that evening. I pushed on hoping it would pass. We ate at the Italian restaurant there that evening. I woke up in the middle of the night that night almost having an accident but just made it to the toilet in time. It gets worse from there. We had breakfast there in the morning of the 19th, and could not leave our room that whole day. We attempted to try the Mexican restaurant, but neither one of us could eat anything, or keep it down. From there on out we decided not to eat food anymore. Later that night I called my doctor friend in the states. Based off of my symptoms, and with my wife having the same, he told me that most likely it’s food poisoning. This surprised me coming from a resort, but nevertheless, that’s what it was. The next day (May 20th) I went to tell management. I first spoke to the older lady at the check in counter, who then attempted to reach the manager. Then lady walked over and explained that other name that would handle this, but she’s in a meeting, she’ll pass on the message. That day we could not leave anywhere too far from a toilet. However , we did try to eat a little off property. The next morning Friday, I went downstairs to ask for other lady. lady there informed me that she does not come in until after 3:00. Well this was our last chance to do anything in Aruba before we have to leave in the morning. So we did as much as we could, and saw as much as we could see all in one day. Plus we had to go get our return home Covid tests. However, still feeling a little uneasy about venturing too far from a toilet, we did it anyway. By the time we made it back to the hotel, the lady had left for the evening. The next morning (Saturday) we packed up and headed to the airport. Before leaving I checked once more to see if she was available. counter lady told me she was not in yet, but promised to have her contact me by the following day. So she had me write down the names, emails, and phone numbers of both my wife and I so she could give it to Natasha. I did that. At the airport we ran into another couple flying to New Jersey. They told us that they got sick at here as well. We arrived back home late Saturday night feeling like we just had our vacation stolen from us. I never got a call from manager so I tried on Monday, no answer. Then I tried on Tuesday and was finally transferred to her. She told me she never got any messages from us or told to contact us. That bothers me even more. I would have thought that a resort would have some type of quality control in place for the health and safety of their guests. Apparently not. I am so unhappy about this whole situation. I have wanted to see Aruba my whole life. And when I finally get the chance, I get stuck in my hotel room the majority of my vacation and hardly hot to see the island at all. This is heart wrenching for both my wife and myself, and totally unexpected.
