It is possible to get food poisoning from pepperoni. Listeria is a major concern of pepperoni food poisoning and pepperoni has been recalled over listeria concerns as recently as Nov 2019. Studies have shown that symptoms can begin within 24 hours and can be life-threatening if untreated.

Ate one slice pepperoni and garlic bread. Worker put the slice into the oven to “reheat” it since it had been sitting for a minute. This was the only thing eaten all day. it was refrigerated. Didn't get anything crazy on it, just pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives, cucumbers, onions, mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and that's it. Immediately the next day I started to have chills and I knew something bad was coming. Led into a multi-day fever, and 6 days of pure liquid #2 in the bathroom with mega cramps from loss of electrolytes.
