9 sick people reported eating raw cookie dough from Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza in the week before they got sick. Based on this information, Papa Murphy’s has temporarily stopped selling their raw chocolate chip cookie dough and raw S’mores bars dough. At least two sick people did not eat at Papa Murphy’s. Investigators are working to identify the contaminated ingredient in the raw cookie dough. The investigation is ongoing

CDC is advising people to check their refrigerator and freezer for these raw doughs and to throw any away. CDC always advises people not to eat raw cookie dough, unless it has a label indicating that it is safe to be eaten raw.

The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the California Department of Public Health and is being taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and health of our consumers. The state of Pennsylvania collected a sample of the product and found traces of salmonella. According to the testers, three types of salmonella were detected, Salmonella Javiana, Salmonella Mgulani, and Salmonella Weltevreden. All strains of Salmonella can cause similar symptoms, including diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
