Subway, Youngstown-Poland Road, Poland, OH, USA

We ordered 2 footlong subs on August 4, 2022, one grilled chicken teriyaki with multi grain bun and one grilled chicken with garlic aioli on an Italian herbs and cheese bun. Both sandwiches were toasted and had lettuce, tomato, red onion, green pepper, black olives and black … See More
pepper added. The garlic aioli sandwich also had parmesan cheese. The grilled chicken on the garlic aioli sandwich was one big piece of chicken and not sliced in pieces like the chicken teriyaki sandwich. I ate half the garlic aioli sandwich and within a few hours, started to feel very nauseous and queasy with stomach cramps on and off. Today, almost 24 hours after eating it, had more stomach cramps, then bad diarrhea. I'm still feeling unwell with nausea and just had diarrhea again, and I believe the sandwich made me sick. I didn't eat the other half of the sandwich and it's still sitting in the fridge waiting to be thrown away. My husband ate his whole sandwich yesterday and didn't have any problem. It was either the bun, parmesan, garlic aioli, or chicken on my sandwich that was the problem. My chicken didn't taste so great; it had a weird texture and tasted like something you'd get from an old school nasty tv dinner. There were all new employees working on the day we ordered and I'm guessing they need trained on cleanliness and sanitary processes. Health department needs to investigate this restaurant to find out what happened. There was a power outage in the area earlier in the day, so maybe product was out of proper refrigeration temps. Not sure why this happened, but this is unacceptable for a big company franchisee. I won't ever eat at this place again.  | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Cramps

Infinite Herbs LLC of Miami, Florida, is voluntarily recalling 2.5-ounce packages of Infinite Herbs fresh organic basil sold between February 1 and April 6, 2024, and bearing the UPC 8 18042 02147 7 (see photos attached) because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The … See More
recalled product was shipped directly to Trade Joe’s retail distribution centers in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and to two Fruit Center Marketplace stores in Massachusetts. Based on its food questionnaires and epidemiological data to date, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that 12 illnesses are likely related to this recall.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.

Infinite Herbs initiated the voluntary recall after the FDA notified it of the CDC's information.

No other products distributed by Infinite Herbs are affected by this recall—non-organic basil in any package and other package sizes of organic basil are not included in this recall. The company is conducting this recall with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA's) knowledge.

The recalled product is out of date and no longer available for sale, but consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and freezers and not consume the recalled organic basil if they have it.

In case you are experiencing Salmonella symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
