Ice Cream House Dairy Non-Dairy ice cream (parve), sorbet, cakes, and novelty products - recalled due to Listeria
3 months ago
Clymer, 14724 New York, United States
The Ice Cream House is voluntarily recalling all Dairy Ice Cream Products and Non-dairy [Parve] frozen Dessert products due to potential health risk in regards to Listeria monocytogenes. The products being recalled were sold at the Ice Cream House in Brooklyn and through retail supermarkets in New York, New Jersey and Ohio. Two cases of illnesses have been reported in this outbreak in two states (NY and PA.) Both individuals were hospitalized but no deaths have been reported to date.
Listeria monocytogenes, is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
This recall is related to the Soft Serve on the go cups which had been previously recalled by Real Kosher Ice Cream, Inc.
Identifying a Recalled Product Recalled products include all Ice Cream House branded items currently on the market. This includes all Dairy and Non-Dairy [Parve] products, like ice creams, cakes, logs and novelty items with the “Ice Cream House” logo. Products are packed in clamshells or cake trays with plastic dome covers in a variety of sizes and styles and has an Ice Cream House label as seen below. Recalled products are not labeled with lot or date codes.
Returning Recalled Products Products involved in the recall should be returned to the original point of purchase for a full refund or replacement.
Ice Cream has a long shelf life and may still be in the freezers of consumers. Consumers should check their freezers and throw away the recalled ice cream products or return it to the place of purchase.
In case you are experiencing Listeria monocytogenes symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

I recently purchased a bag of Black Forest Organic Gummy Bears. I get them all the time. But this time there was a big problem with one of the gummies in the bag. I was eating a few gummy bears from a package of organic gummy bears.... See More I regularly get these and have never had an issue. Today, however, when I put a gummy in my mouth, something was off. The texture was wrong when I bit down on it. It felt rubbery and tasted horrible. I quickly spit it out and the gummy bear had a thick rubber like coating around it that I've never seen on anything like this before. It hurt when I chewed on it and it was very hard in the center like something was inside of it. It had a rubber like smell to it as well. It looks almost as if a piece of machinery or a moulding came lose and ended up in the candy. I didn't realize a small piece had stuck inside my mouth after spitting it out. When I breathed in, the piece became stuck in the back of my throat and I had to manually use my finger to dislodge it so I wouldn't continue to choke on it.
