Smoked Salmon Alert due to Listeria

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an alert for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in smoked salmon from Spain. The alert was issued on May 31, 2024, at 5:00 PM, following a notification from the Valencian Community through the Coordinated System of Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI). The initial distribution has been to the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Castilla-La - La Mancha, and the Region of Murcia, but redistribution to other autonomous communities cannot be ruled out. Authorities in the autonomous communities have been informed through the SCIRI to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from the market.AFFECTED PRODUCTS:
The brands under which the products have been marketed include Alepa, Distrialacant, Fajardo, Guillermo Fernandez, Hiperber, La Cuna del Salazon, Los Salaos, Pablo Campillo, Pertusa, Saez, Salazones Miguel, Salinas, Samar, The Blueocean Seaffod, and Tora.
The affected smoked salmon has been marketed under various brands and presentations. The affected product is smoked and marinated salmon, which is refrigerated. The affected batches all start with 30A4, followed by a number and a letter for traceability purposes.
The implicated product is available in the following presentations:
- Smoked salmon 80 g, 100 g, 200 g, 250 g, and 300 g
- Smoked salmon in oil 150 g, 900 g, and 3500 g
- Pre-cut smoked salmon 1.2 kg, 1 kg, 700 g, 600 g, 500 g, and 400 g
- Smoked salmon fillet 600 g
- Pre-cut marinated salmon 600 g
Consumers who have the affected products at home are advised not to consume them.
