Recall details: Serafin Fishery is recalling its 8-ounce containers of Salmon Dip and Whitefish Dip because they may contain... See More undeclared anchovies, eggs, milk and soy. People who have allergies to anchovies, eggs, milk and soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled Salmon Dip and Whitefish Dips were distributed locally in retail stores.  The product comes in an 8-ounce, clear plastic package marked with lot #729 and lot #807 on the top and with expiration dates of August 12, 2020 and August 24, 2020 on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. The recall was initiated after it was discovered during an inspection conducted by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development that the products’ labeling did not list all of the products’ ingredients.

Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected. Individuals with an allergy or sensitivity to anchovies, eggs, milk and soy should not consume these products. Households that include individuals with an allergy or sensitivity to any of these allergens should dispose of the recalled product.  

Consumers who have purchased the 8-ounce packages of Salmon Dip and Whitefish Dip are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Serafin Fishery at 1-989-879-4596, Monday thru Friday from 9 to 5 p.m.

- comments: observed approximately 10 lbs cooked pork in a deep metal container with a metal lid inside the cooks line two door cooler at an improper temperature of 70f. Management states the pork was cooked that day. No time/temperature logs on site. Reviewed with the manager proper cooling procedures of using loosely covered shallow containers, quick chills in freezers/times required for the cooling process. Pork discarded. Estimated value at $10. 00 priority violation 7-38-005 citation issued.

21. Proper hot holding temperatures
- comments: observed approximately 15 lbs cooked whole chicken, pre-packaged in a hot holding display unit at inadequate temperatures of 123. 1f & 128. 1f. Instructed all hot foods must be held at a hot holding temperature of 135f or above. All discarded. Estimated value $50. 00. Priority violation 7-38-005. See above violation #20 for citation.

- comments: observed a poster wall menu of assorted breakfast egg items that may be cooked to order. Menu does not disclose and inform consumers the specific menu items that are raw or under cooked and a potential hazard of consuming such food. Since this is all I had and dairy is known for causing such problems I believe it was from the Milkshake. This is really poor, I had faith that I wouldn’t be poisoned here and they’ve failed me. These were both take and bake. I had a a beef ribeye cut in-store. Both my... See More wife and my mother-in-law both got sick. My wife had the similar symptoms but nowhere to the severity of my mother-in-law and that may be due to the age disparity as my mother-in-law is 68. I only ate a whole cut of meat that was grilled appropriately and did not get sick. In remembering up to two years ago, my wife has had that same oscar style salmon in the past two additional times and both times she became ill with the same symptoms. These both came from the same store. When we buy whole fish cuts from them that are not prepared in store, and are frozen from initial packaging, there's never a problem. It is only the in-store prepared, take and bake meat that seems to be an issue. additionally, my wife and I both had a salad that I made from scratch and I used a vegetable cleaner to sanitize the lettuce and onions that comprised the salad prior to eating. I have no symptoms.
