    Some chorizo requires cooking and if it is eaten raw you may get food poisoning. Trichinosis is a parasitic infection spread by eating raw or undercooked foods that has been associated with chorizo. Stomach cramps and nausea are some of the signs and symptoms of this condition.

    The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 21,105 pounds of raw pork chorizo products by Valle Import and Export LLC because they were produced without the benefit of federal inspection. This product was shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. There have been... See More no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product.

    The recalled product is:
    - 14-oz. plastic tub containers containing “Chorizo Olanchano Mezcla de chorizo Centroamericano Centroamerican Brand Chorizo Mix.”

    This product was produced in the owner's home from October 1, 2021, through October 18, 2023 and bears a false mark of inspection with establishment number "EST. 1150," which does not exist. Some products were sold in retail displays without a label.

    The problem was discovered during FSIS surveillance activities. FSIS determined that the firm produced the pork chorizo products without the benefit of federal inspec.

    FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged not to consume it.

All said items were located in a walk-in cooler and 2-door cooler with a cold hold unit attached in the prep area. Instructed to hold all cold tcs foods @41f or below. Priority violation. 7-38-005. Citation issued. All said food was discarded and denatured during this time.
