Lettuce is one of the most common causes of food poisoning. Since the start of 2018, there have been over 10 major lettuce illness outbreaks involving E.coli. The 2 most recent involved packaged salad kits that sickened at least 30 and romaine lettuce grown in Salinas, CA that sickened at least 138.

Terrible, terrible nausea, vomiting and diarrhea about 24 hours after eating food from this location (everything else I ate in the interim was prepared at home). The location seemed generally dirty and messy; also witnessed (as the food was being made) a receipt fell into the lettuce container.  | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting

1/2 of it when I got home I was in the bathroom 2 hours later violently throwing up and stomach cramps so bad I would have called 911 if I had my cell phone on me. I layed there for 10 hours with diarrhea and vomiting the whole time. The next day could barely walk and 4 days later my stomach still hurts I am dehydrated and can barely eat anything but saltines. My husband and I ate at the Cheesecake Factory last night, I had the lemon garlic shrimp and a side salad but some pieces of the lettuce tasted sour to me.
