Onions can be a source of food poisoning. In 2021, onions were recalled after causing a Salmonella outbreak affecting more than 1,000 individuals in the US. A Salmonella infection often occurs 12-72 hours after consumption, and is associated with stomach cramps and diarrhea.

Ate a 6 inch Subway sandwich with ham, American cheese, lettuce, onions, mayo, and mustard along with a water bottle. This was approximately 12:30pm PST on 4/20/24.
