Corn Food Poisoning

Canned and frozen corn could be the cause of food poisoning. Canned corn has been recalled numerous times for Clostridium botulinum contamination, which results in a botulism infection. Similarly, frozen corn has been recalled on several occasions for Listeria contamination. Both infections can result in severe illness.

Food handler obtained paper towel for the hand sink during time of inspection priority foundation violation #7-38-030(c). Citation issued.

- comments: observed food storage containers without labels containing the common name of foods. Instructed to provide.

- comments: observed no current pest control log book on the premises. Instructed the person in charge that a licensed pest control company and operator must provide at least 2 pest inspections a year, and the reports must be maintained in the log book. Instructed to provide a current pest control log book and pest inspection reports. Priority foundation 7-38-020(c). Citation issued.

- comments: observed single service articles not inverted in the service area and stored on the floor in the rear storage hallway area. Instructed manager to invert and elevate all single service articles off floor.

- comments: observed milk crates being used as shelving throughout the prep and storage areas. Must remove and provide shelving 6' off the floor and provide floor accessibility to ensure adequate facility cleaning.
